Absolutely okay. We embrace hard questions. 

Do I have to accept your “givens” so that we can have a conversation?

Absolutely not.

In an honest conversation, you can challenge all assumptions.  In an honest conversation, you can expect your challenges to be challenged.

What purpose does talking serve?

  1. To expand your mind. Talking to people with different perspectives is like going on a mental roller coaster. It’s thrilling, terrifying, and ultimately mind-expanding.
  2. To test your beliefs. If your beliefs can’t withstand a little disagreement, they’re not worth much. 
  3. Get out of the echo chamber. People who challenge your thinking will make you a  more interesting person.
  4. Promote change. Disagreement is the spark that ignites creative thinking.
